Reed's Remember When ...

This Blog is dedicated to remembering things the way they used to be and tying them to today. Not everything in the 'good old days' were good, but a lot of things still have merit. For instance, 'Remember When a half-gallon of ice cream was actually 2 quarts vice 1.75 quarts today? What's up with that?'

Name: Reed
Location: Midwest, United States

Trying to make sense of 'today' and ensure my children grow up with the beliefs that were instilled in me. Give them the best start in life. Stress do the 'right thing, the first time, every time.'

Reed's Remember New Years

Remember the beginning of each year, New Year's Day? The day when we celebrate a new beginning, make new resolutions and reflect on the past year. The night before may have been celebrated with friends or family over good food and conversation. It probably ended watching the 'ball' drop in Times Square.

Many things happened in 2005 throughout the world. Hurricanes, record breaking gas prices, the continued Global War on Terrorism and more. Whatever took place in your life, time still marches on. The beat was to different drummers and nothing stayed the same. Or did it? One thing has always been constant, God's love for mankind. Never forget that.

2005 has been good to my family. I thank God each day for that. My wife, children and I are healthy, warm and comfortable. As we look forward to 2006 there could be many life changes. Decisions of possible retirement and job searches, contemplating where we'll settle down and middle school are all upcoming.

All new uncharted territory. Through it all there is one thing I must work on (closest thing to a New Year's Resolution for me) - let God have control and not try to control my own destiny. He knows much better than I what that will be.

Happy New Year and may God continue to bless you and may you realize that He has blessed you!
