Reed's Remember the Easter Bunny
Do you remember the Eastern Bunny? Or should I say do you remember the real meaning behind Easter? This time of year many around us think of colored eggs laid by chickens hidden by the Easter Bunny ‘hoppin’ down the bunny trail’, chocolate bunnies, Peeps and Jelly Beans. Thankfully, some of us still remember the reason for Easter.
Almost 2 millennia ago, a man, the son of God, was betrayed, arrested and tried. He was beaten, accused falsely and spat upon. None of this did he deserve. He did it for us. He did it for you. He was condemned to die a horrible death, crucifixion. He spent six hours in agony, with nails in his wrists and feet, a crown of thorns on his head and blood dripping down to a crying earth. A man named Joseph placed his body in a tomb.
But, the story does not end there. Three days later Mary Magdalene, Mary and Salome went to anoint his body with spices. They found the tomb open, the body gone and the burial clothes neatly folded. He had risen! As promised! As prophesied!
So this Easter, while you enjoy your colored eggs and chocolate bunny, remember the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. He is our hope and salvation!
