Reed's Remember Friday Night Football Games

Remember going to Friday night high school football games? September starts the new school year and high school football. The teams have been practicing for almost a month for the first Friday game in September. The team is charged, the coaches ready for a winning season and the fans in the stands want to see a great game.

September brings cool evenings, letterman jackets, bright lights on the field and the opening show by the marching band. The booster club is selling popcorn, M&M's, hot dogs and nachos. Alumni, parents, high schoolers and tweens are there to mingle and watch football. From the opening kickoff it is a guaranteed good time for all.

Friday night games bring back a lot of memories for me. Seeing friends, beating our town's rival (which didn't happen very often), the cheerleaders, and the dance after the game. Ah, the fond memories.

Not much has changed. You can still feel the excitement and let the sounds take you back to your high school days. Just find your local high school's web site and pick a home game. Then go! Sit in the stands, root for the home team, and enjoy the half time show. Are you ready for some Friday night football...
